Anybody into OldSkool Jungle?

Postby nomaad » 01 Jul 2007

Anybody out there into the authentic oldskool kinda jungle that has barely been touched on since 1997?

We're two DJ's from th USA (Indy/NYC) who play the oldskool. Looking for parties and people with respect and appreciation for DJ culture and sick jungle beats.

Anybody interested, pls contact us.

Hi boys,

yeh I like oldschool jungle, not ragga tho, I also like from 97 the atmo-inteliigent scene, specially moving shadow label with old e-z rollers, omni trio, etc...

Wicked.

I (nomaad) play straight jungle.... a bit of ragga, but not much into heavy ragga lyrics. Labels like Frontline, Ganja, IQ, Brain, Flex, Sour, V, Liftin Spirits, Moving Shadow, RAM, Formation, Tearin, Rugged... Like I said- mostly from before 1997. I play a little bit of jump-up too, but beyond that it gets lost in DnB. Nothing against dNb persay... I just don't feel it. I have been mixing jungle more and more over the last 3 years since moving to Costa Rica...before that I was into tekhaus, techno and a little bit of house.

I don't want to even try and describe the jungle that C-toph (my partner) plays... All I can say is that he is- by far- the sickest junglist I have ever heard. He's also not just a DJ... he's one of the few who deserves the title "Turntablist"... He can rock just about any party.

Its pretty amazing to know that there are a few jungle soldiers out there. We'd love to come to San Jose (From Perez Zeledon) or wherever and spin some sets... we're not trying to get paid or anything (maybe someday?)... really, we just want to spin for people who will truly appreciate the music (not ask us to play reggaton, etc)

We spin mostly vinyl, and will bring our turntables if necessary... a club night or a good house party (with a decent sound system)... we also both mix other kinds of electronic music as well...

You can respond to this in English or Spanish or Spanglish or whatever. Me cuesta mucho escribir, pero entiendo perfectamente lo que leo.

PS
Anybody know why I would have problems with the CRBeats site in Firefox ("modules will not load") and then it works fine in (ugh) Internet Explorer?

with that problem you need to close your firefox and start a new session !!

I only use firefox and crbeats is 100% debugged in the most resent version of Firefox but since version 2 we had that issue

but a new session solved!!

Ydi si ese es tu objetivo bienvenido abordo!!! si tienes MSN podes agregar a cualquiera del Krew y di hacemos algo cool para la proxima ves

en lo personal creo que aka casi todos tenemos esa actidud de if we get paid cool if not it also cool!!! and don't worry you don't need to bring yout turntables just your needles if they are special for scratching!!!

any ways just keep in touch!!!!

You miss HVY (Jungle DJ from miami i think he is also living here)

Buena nota!!!

Nice one... just let us know and we'll come party. And I come to San Jose all the time for other things...maybe we can get together a small mixing session or something...

How many people usually come to jungle parties/club nights? I have been here three years and never met one person into the music... i guess I just haven't looked in the right places.

What kind of turntables/mixers/soundsystems are available? we may bring mixer and effects... I'm excited to throw down! any plans for anything in the near future?

edit: oh yeah... anybody have any oldskool mixes to share? i'm working on it, but I have a very noisy soundcard and audio in jack... so I am recording to MD. soon come.

No worries. I'll take my junglists in any size, shape or color. so long as they dance.

We may bring mixer and effects. thats no problem. Its the 1200's that I hate to roll with.

man... i'm excited. I have been buying a lot of sick new (old) records. when my next vinyl mule arrives in August, its on.

I'm going to be in San Jose this week or next. Should I bring a bag of vinyl? Mixing session, anyone?

(I posted a response to this thread yesterday. was it swallowed by the interwebs?)
